Albert Bartlett is the UK’s leading grower and packer of potatoes, a family business established in 1948. The company supplies over 500,000 tonnes of potatoes into the UK market each year working closely with major retailers to provide a range of premium quality products. The company is involved in all stages of the potato supply, from seed and field selection, growing, harvesting, packing and marketing. Albert Bartlett potatoes are grown across the UK from Cornwall to the north of Scotland and on the Island of Jersey and operates three industry leading packing factories in Airdrie in Scotland, Boston in Lincolnshire and on Jersey. We also produce value add potato products in our Chilled facilities in Airdrie and Westwick.

Job Description

The production planner will be responsible for creation of the daily production and freeze plans, ensuring that capacity, WIP and material constraints are considered along with product availability issues and will be responsible for ordering fresh ingredients.

To be successful in this role the candidate will be; educated to degree level, have excellent interpersonal skills, strong analytical talents and can effectively communicate with others.

This role will be progressive over a 3-year period where the candidate will undertake an Institute Of Supply Chain Level 5 qualification. This will be a work-based qualification with support time of 24 months. The qualification will focus on supply chain, planning, operations, procurement, warehousing, logistics, and quality management.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing and maintaining the production and frozen plans.
  • Issue updated plans to production.
  • Assist in controlling and monitoring finished goods ensuring no shortages and that any stock at risk is communicated to the commercial teams.
  • Measure key production metrics such as conformance and adherence.
  • Ensure components are in place on time to meet with varying production dynamics.
  • Order and maintain fresh ingredients so that stock is in place where required and is consumed with no risk of stock out of life.
  • Supply forecasts to suppliers.
  • Attend daily production meetings to provide feedback around meeting targets and discuss rescheduling activities.
  • Review daily performance with production, ensuring misses are captured and addressed.
  • Report forecast accuracy metrics to management.
  • Assist planning management where required.

Salary

Year 1 – £22,500

Year 2 – £25,000

Year 3 – £30,000
