Alan looks to maintain a fertile farm and alongside the potatoes that are grown in a 1 in 6 year rotation, he grows Spring Barley and lets ground for vining peas – with the additional benefit that these bring and he also lets grass to a local farmer for prize Pedigree cattle grazing. In addition, Alan looks to farm in an environmentally sensitive way by operating conservation areas, areas of fallow land and diverse field margins to ensure the environment and wildlife areas are maintained to a high standard.
