As well as potatoes, the Hays grow winter wheat and barley for animal feed and oil seed rape for vegetable oil production. Alongside farming, they have a keen interest in their surrounding environment and have made many changes to benefit it, including building three ponds which attract a variety of wildlife species to the area. There have also been trees and hedgerows planted and game strips sowing which also offer ideal habitats to a wide range of species. Being members of The Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust allows them to keep up to date with the latest news and developments in this area.
